Reviews The 'DavidoUktour'

On the evening of Sunday 15th September history was made. The indigo02  hosted some of the most prestigious Afrobeat Talent not forgetting the relatively undiscovered, yet captivating, Acts who graced the stage to open for the main man Davido.

The creativity evident in terms of choreography, styling right to the backing dancers, can only mean one thing for the Afrobeat industry. The future is bright!

Particular uk artists who caught our eye in terms of stage presence and general charisma shown on stage would have to be Uk Takents sensatioins, Mista Silva, Sonaman, Moelogo and the young energetic duo act Hakeem and EsDee YFS.

Mista Silva, A unique Ghanaian,( uk based) artists teased the fans with a Live band version of his chart topping hit 'Now Whats Up' What strikes us about Mr Silva is his ability to incorporate his motherland tongue 'twi' with English whilst demonstrating his ability to both rap and sing.

PromoshinAfrica featured Mr Silva a couples a months ago and tipped him as 'one to watch' following his live performance at 'RipTheRunway', which can be found on our blog 'archives' below.

Sonaman was a name listed on the #DavidoUkTour opening acts that a lot of fans would have been anticipating to see. This is due to the potential shown so early in his career evident in his recent release 'summertime' and his most recent feature on the walahai remix featuring the best of uk Afrobeat talent.

Sonaman did not dissapoint, Opening his performance with a suprise solo perfromance on the drums which had the crowd buzzing and finishing with a well choreographed performance. Performing his new track 'summertime' which certainly seemed to rub off well with the fans (particularly ladies) who quickly picked up the words!

Watch a few snippets of Sonamans performance here via (Talented dancers @JayInnaCity @MrBonkz @iamruphie @samiam_yebbz All displayed prolific choreography)

Moelogo aka Mr Pangolo Pangolo! This profilic nigerian, uk based artists has bags of potential and with a strong team behind him (233 connect) Its is with no suprise 'the next big thing' is the title he is labelled with at the moment.

With the success of his recent self titled EP 'Moelogo' it was only right he performed his most popular releases from the EP.

These tracks included 'Pangolo' which seemed a popular one amongst the crowd who chanted the words as soon as the live band began the intro to the track. After watching moelogo perform it struck us how hard it is to categorise this Artist under one genre of music, Moelogo is obviously an afrobeat artists but his ability to bring a mix of Jazz, soul, rap and RnB into his music makes him a 'headlining act wherever he performs', this was no different at the DavidoUkTour where he made sure people left with his name on there lips.

Hakeem and Esdee YFS -The duo act display ability and maturity past there tender ages. Although new to the scene they have already received the backing from some of the most respectable individuals in the industry, resulting in the two being invited down to open for Davido.

Shy is the last word we'd label the two with, they owned the stage last night when performing Baddo there latest release ft 2kriss. Aswell as being talented lyricists they displayed impressive self taught choreography. The duo act 'YFS' will be followed closely by PromoshinAfrica they are just what the industry needs: young, lively, unique and most importantly they are Baddo!

Lola Rae Takes the stage!
Electrifying acts also included the Afrobeat Sensation 'LoLa Rae' who had the attention of every single person in the arena. All eyes were fixed on her mind blowing choreographed performed the excitement was felt in the crowd right through to the end of her performance, which i'm sure most people didn't want to end!
TillaMan Performing 'KoMaRoll'

Tillaman performs alongside 'Girlzonpoint' dancers.
Tillaman was the last act to inject excitement in the fans before Davido himself was unleashed! And what a fitting act he was, Tillaman, who could have easily been mistaken as the main act, caused uproar amongst the fans as he performed his well known track 'KoMaRoll' and also his  new release 'Rumba Style'. Although a lot of originality & creativity was evident on the night, Tillaman brought something new that topped everything I had seen previously.

And with a fitting interval with Comedian Adot gracing the stage and having the crowd in stitches with his comedy. The crowd were in the perfect mood to see the man they had all brought tickets to see....

Davido steals the show!
Lethal B 'Pow' was the last track the crowd were teased with before, lights went out and the first 10 seconds of  Davidos track 'All of You' caused a surge of people to get as close as possible to the stage.
Cameras where in the hands of almost everyone in the IndigoO2 All trying to get a good shot of the Star Act. The intro to 'all of you' was pulled up by the dj numerous times before The nigerian superstar ran onto the stage and gave the ecstatic london fans a performance that, i'm certain, left them satisfied with their ticket purchases.

Davido performed a series of his most popular tracks and every single word was recited by his buzzing fans, the headlining artist took crowd engagement to another level when he invited a young lady to the stage and sang/ danced with her. B.Red and Sina Rambo were supporting acts who shared the stage with Davido and added to the hype which went on for a solid hour!
The fans mall Davido as security try to seperate.

So there you have the event was a success, Quoted by 'Nigeria Watch' as "The Hottest concert of the year" PromoshinAfrica are in full agreement of this statement and would add our view of the event as an 'The night Afrobeats Took over London'
